Updated November 1, 2026. This policy covers the CommsOn app and support provided by 1 Up Printworks LLC.
Information on your headset
CommsOn processes text messages, recipient phone numbers, contact names and draft replies to provide messaging with your paired iPhone. Contacts are imported when you request it. Conversations and preferences are stored in the app's private storage on your Quest. History is limited to 1,000 messages across all conversations; the oldest entries are removed as new messages exceed this limit. The app disables Android backup; do not rely on it as a backup of your iPhone history.
Messages travel between the headset and your iPhone through Bluetooth. Your iPhone and its messaging services handle onward delivery. The app does not require your Apple account password or a Mac relay.
Notifications and Meta services
CommsOn uses Meta platform services for headset alerts. The app supplies generic notification text, such as “New text message,” and a generated notification identifier; its notification adapter does not supply message text, contact names or phone numbers. Meta operates its own platform services under its privacy policies: https://www.meta.com/legal/privacy-policy/
Diagnostics
The app keeps a bounded local notification trace, including timestamps, outcomes and error categories. Additional connection diagnostics may appear in device logs. There is no developer-operated remote log collection implemented in the current app. If you contact support, share only what is needed and remove private text and contact information from screenshots or logs.
Deletion and retention
You can delete selected messages or conversations from the Quest app. This does not delete the original messages from your iPhone or unsend them. Local data may be lost if the app is removed or its storage is cleared. Previously saved Quest messages do not automatically mirror deletions on iPhone.
Contacts and complete local removal
Refreshing contacts adds or updates entries returned by your iPhone and keeps previously saved contacts. Deleting a conversation does not delete its saved contact. This version has no individual contact-removal control. Contacts, drafts, preferences and deletion markers can remain until app data is removed. Deletion markers help prevent deleted messages from being imported again.
To remove all local data, use the headset’s app-storage deletion option if available, or remove CommsOn. This removes saved conversations, contacts, drafts and settings; no in-app backup or recovery is provided. Support cannot remotely erase data stored only on your headset. This is not necessary for an ordinary app update.
System keyboard and support
Quest provides the keyboard, including any optional dictation. Those system services are governed by Meta’s policies. CommsOn itself does not request microphone permission.
If you contact support, we receive the email address, correspondence and files you choose to send. Do not include private message contents or other people’s contact details. Contact info@1upworks.com to request deletion of support correspondence. We delete support correspondence within 90 days after the issue is resolved, except records needed to meet legal obligations or address an ongoing dispute.
Support email is hosted through GoDaddy/Microsoft 365. We use it to receive requests, investigate problems and respond. We may use OpenAI's ChatGPT to translate de-identified issue summaries and draft replies, which a person reviews before sending. Our support workflow removes names, email addresses, phone numbers, private message contents and other identifying details before sending a summary to ChatGPT. CommsOn does not automatically send your conversations or contacts to ChatGPT. Email and AI service providers process the information supplied to their services; their retention and processing are governed by their applicable terms and settings. The 90-day support-correspondence schedule describes our handling and is not a promise that every provider backup is erased on the same day.
Reports submitted through Meta
If you choose to submit a report about CommsOn through Meta's user-reporting service, the information included in that report is sent through Meta to our developer reporting inbox. We use reports to investigate reported conduct, address safety concerns and improve the app. Our form does not ask for your email address. Please avoid including unrelated private messages, phone numbers or contact details in a report.
Meta describes this inbox as encrypted and states that reports, including archived reports, are stored for up to 90 days before automatic deletion. This is separate from the support-email retention period described above. Contact info@1upworks.com with privacy questions or deletion requests; do not email your message history. Availability of the reporting interface depends on Meta's platform support and configuration.
Bug reports and beta feedback through Meta
If you choose to send app bug reports or beta feedback through Meta, Meta stores the description, category and any screenshots or videos you choose to attach, along with the headset model, Horizon OS version and app build. Our team can view these reports in the developer dashboard to investigate problems and improve CommsOn. Beta feedback may identify your Meta username. This is separate from the encrypted conduct-reporting inbox described above; its 90-day automatic-deletion statement does not apply to this bug-report system. Avoid including private messages, contact details or sensitive media. For privacy requests about information held by us, contact info@1upworks.com. Meta handles its platform records under its own privacy policy.
Intended audience
CommsOn is intended for adults aged 18 and over.
Privacy requests
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact info@1upworks.com to make a request concerning information held by us. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority. Local-only headset information must be managed on your headset as described above; support cannot remotely access it.
